Xiaomi 16 Pro Tipped to Lose Quad-Curve Display and Gain Better Eye Protection

Xiaomi 16 Pro is rumored to drop the quad-curve display to achieve a more iPhone-esque look. With the older 15 Pro model, the chamfered screen conveniently hid the bezels, making them look thinner than they actually were. But now, the company can’t wait to show off its flat-screen innovation.

The screen on Xiaomi 16 Pro won’t use curve-glass trickery to achieve a similar bezel thickness. All-around screen curvature isn’t a fan favorite, which is exactly why the company wants to bring back the traditional flat style AMOLED to its flagship device. SmartPikachu revealed exclusive details on Weibo.

Last year’s Pro had a 1.38mm bezel trim on all four sides, which was mostly helped by the fact that the screen was curved around the edges. Xiaomi angles for true innovation with the 16 Pro, keeping the same bezels but on a flat AMOLED display.

As reported by the leaker, there’s hope for better Eye Protection on the Xiaomi 16 Pro. This could mean faster PWM dimming at higher brightness levels, but SmartPikachu’s post doesn’t give a specific number. We saw more leaks on the internet speculating about a bigger screen on the newcomer, sparking interest not just in specs but also in upcoming Xiaomi phones prices.

There was a 6.73” display on the old model, but you can expect the screen size to grow by a few centimeters this year. If the internet is to be believed, Xiaomi 16 Pro’s OLED display should measure between 6.8” and 6.85.” We might need to wait for more leaks to confirm the exact size.

One thing that’s guaranteed is the OLED 2K+ resolution and the dynamic refresh rate (LTPO) on this handset. Year 2025 marks the official release of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, and Xiaomi is desperately trying to become the first brand to use this chip on its flagship series.

The leaker believes the triple camera system will return on Xiaomi 16 Pro. Rumor has it that the selfie shooter is also getting an upgrade to 50MP, which will record 4K 60 FPS video with a wider FOV. Unlike the Xiaomi 15 Pro which was more of a minor iterative evolution in terms of features, the 16 Pro appears to be laying it on the line on the camera. These are all the details we have on the Xiaomi 16 Pro for now. We’ll fill you in on the rest of its specs once the company officially starts teasing the series.
