After the launch of Vivo Y31 in Pakistan, the brand is soon coming out with a new budget 5G phone, the Vivo Y72 5G. An early poster was officially published ahead of the release. Based on it, the phone is slated for launch in Thailand on March 22. The promo reveals only two features, but the Y72 5G was also found listed on the Google Play Console along with more details.

For our readers out of the loop, the Y-series is Vivo’s line of budget phones. Traditionally, it has only featured 4G models; the Vivo Y72 is the first 5G phone in the series.

The phone’s shell has beveled edges, there’s a notch bleeding into the display, and the camera plate is now accented with chrome rings. It comes in two gradient colorways: charcoal and sunset.

The official promos also confirm that Y72’s primary camera has a 64MP sensor and that it’s backed up by a 5000 mAh battery. There’s no mention of fast charging technology, but if the phone does support it, the new addition to the Vivo price list would likely be limited to 18W.

Coming back to the Google Play Console document, we’ve learned that the Vivo Y72 screen produces a full HD resolution and a 440 PPI of pixel density. MediaTek Dimensity 700 — the cheapest entry-level chip in the Dimensity line — and the latest Android11 OS power the Vivo Y72 5G.

Other specs are unconfirmed, but the Vivo Y72 5G reportedly features a 6.58” IPS LCD and a 16MP selfie camera embedded in it. An 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP low-res sensor complete the triple camera setup.
