Vivo Unveils Another Y20 Edition; The New Y20G Comes with an Helio G80, 6GB RAM, and 5,000mAh Battery

Vivo just added another Y20 edition to the entry-level lineup. Like its five sibling variants, the new Vivo Y20G is made from the same template. The formulaic models only differ in their chipset. And the Y20G is no exception.

MediaTek Helio G80 powers the Vivo Y20G. It’s a budget chip from MediaTek’s low-end gaming segment. But its 5000 mAh battery charges over a micro-USB port (which has become a staple for Y20 phones.) 18W fast charging support is available.

Android11-based FunTouchOS 11 runs on the Y20G. And 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage are shipped with it. A 3.5mm headphone jack is present on the bottom. Its fingerprint scanner doubles as the power button. The phone comes in recycled Purist Blue and Obsidian Black colors.

The body of the Y20G is identical to other Y20 models with an increased Vivo mobile price tag. We’re looking at a 6.51” screen with a 720P IPS LCD. Its similarly-priced competition, recent POCO, and Xiaomi phones offer 1080P resolution across the board. A notch, featuring an 8MP f/1.8 front camera, extends into it.

The four-sided camera bump on the Vivo Y20G back includes a 13MP primary sensor with a tiny f/2.2 aperture and two 2MP additional lenses. But, the software onboard is still missing a dedicated night mode.

Vivo Y20G made its debut in India, where it starts from $205 (~ Rs. 32,999). No word on its global launch timeline yet.
