Tecno Camon 30 Series - A Tough Sell in Pakistan's Competitive Market

Tecno rolled out a whole new Camon lineup for Pakistan in 2024 – the Camon 30, Camon 30 Pro 5G, and Camon 30 Premier 5G. On paper, they sound pretty flashy. But hold on a sec, because things get a bit dicey when you compare them to what else is out there.

Techies are scratching their heads at the Camon 30 series' price tags. The word on the street is, you can get a much better bang for your buck elsewhere. Look no further than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 (256GB). It absolutely destroys the base Camon 30 in terms of value.

Both phones boast that sweet 120Hz AMOLED display technology. But here's the kicker: you'll be coughing up over Rs 62,000 for the Camon 30, while the Redmi Note 13 gives you a similar experience for under Rs 55,000. Plus, the Redmi wins on-screen protection with Gorilla Glass 3 guarding that super bright 1800 nits display.

Things go from bad to worse for Tecno in the camera department. Both Tecno Camon latest models, 30 and 30 Pro only go up to a measly 50MP main sensor. The Redmi Note 13 laughs in their faces with a whopping 108MP sensor (complete with image stabilization!), flanked by an ultrawide lens and a macro shooter.

Tecno's not exactly known for stellar after-sales support either. Their HiOS UI is clunky and just feels...off compared to the smooth, user-friendly experience you get with MIUI 14 or even Samsung's One UI. Update-conscious buyers might be better off with something like the Samsung Galaxy A15 (powered by the same Helio G99 chip) – at least you know you'll get security patches and software updates.

Ironically, Tecno's own cousin brand, Infinix, might be stealing their thunder. The Infinix Note 40, priced under Rs 55,000, goes toe-to-toe with the Redmi Note 13 in terms of camera, display, and performance, offering way more value. Even Tecno's own Spark 20 Pro Plus adds insult to injury. This mid-ranger boasts a curved AMOLED display, always-on display tech, a monstrous 108MP camera, and the Helio G99 chip, all for under Rs 55,000.

With a hefty price tag and underwhelming specs, the Camon 30 seems like a risky bet for Tecno. It's facing an uphill battle to win over Pakistani smartphone buyers who are looking for the best value for their money.
