Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Allegedly Caught on Camera with World’s Thinnest Design

Samsung is gearing up for a big foldable launch in early July, with three models reportedly on the way. Those are Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the more affordable Z Flip 7 FE. With mass production already in full swing, the book-style Z Fold 7 has been spotted in the wild for the first time. Here’s how the phone looks.

This is a spy shot of what appears to be a production sample of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The design is familiar. We have already seen a similar appearance with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, having a triple-lens setup and extremely sharp corners. The phone might look the same, but it’s allegedly thinner than last year’s build.

The image seems to have originated from Weibo, although a leaker reposted the same spy shot on X after Samsung took it down from the Chinese website. In a second post, the X users shared some more viral images, reminding us of the phone’s dimensions and bezel size.

It seems that this Samsung Fold new model is 158.4 mm in length and 143.1 mm in width. It is slightly taller and wider than last year’s Z Fold 6, so a bigger screen could also be around the corner. The real surprise would be the 3.9 mm thickness, which is a jaw-dropping figure and beats almost every other foldable out there.

The rendered images and the alleged measurements we’ve seen show that the device is even slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was known for its thin design. Galaxy Z Fold 7 might be the thinnest design this company ever made.

The X leaker had more to share about the phone’s inner display. He talks about the Z Fold 7’s bezels that might shrink by half this year. The older Galaxy Z Fold 6 had black borders around the inner screen measuring 1.9mm. The Z Fold 7 will shrink the bezels down to 1mm.

The 3.9mm thickness in the unfolded state, or alleged 8.9mm profile (folded), might just make the device thin enough to be considered a normal phone and should relieve some of the hesitation users show toward folding devices.

With a design so thin, fans are concerned about the phone’s battery life. We’ll soon know what compromises Samsung has made to achieve the ultra-thin design. Stay tuned for more updates as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 continues to appear in leaks and reports before its inevitable launch in early July.
