Samsung is gearing up to introduce the next generation of Galaxy M-series phones. The rumor mill has already given us a look at the Samsung Galaxy M02, Galaxy M12, and Galaxy M62 (a higher-end phone with as much as 256GB of storage). Yesterday, the Galaxy M42 also secured approval from several certification authorities, pointing to an imminent launch. It’s a successor to the Galaxy M40 that came out in 2019.
The Chinese 3C signed off on the alleged Samsung Galaxy M42 under the battery model number EB-BM425ABY. The phone has a 5,830 mAh cell (typically rated 6000 mAh), following the recent trend of oversized batteries in Samsung’s newer M-series phones.
At any rate, it’s a leap from the 3500 mAh battery its predecessor had. The same cell was also tested and approved by the European authority DEKRA and the Indian BIS (the market where the M42 will most likely be making its debut).
A report from September also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy M42 features a 64MP standard camera and 128GB of internal storage. Any details beyond that are pure speculation, but GizmoChina notes that the phone will launch before 2020 ends. Meanwhile, it seems like A42 is not alone in joining the Samsung price list soon as some new renders of Galaxy A12 are also making rounds on the web.
In related news, the entry-level Galaxy M12 is also coming in early 2021.
The popular phone leaker @OnLeaks published the concept renders of the Samsung Galaxy M12, revealing the new boxy matrix layout that Samsung has adopted for the next-gen Galaxy M-series models. It supposedly has a 6.5” notched LCD screen and four cameras on the back.
