In the past few weeks, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G has emerged in a flurry of leaks on the internet. It was recently found on Samsung’s official support page listing in the UK, hinting at an early launch. Today, the phone has resurfaced on the Geekbench test database. It exposed some interesting facts about the device, so let’s jump into it.
Geekbench provides the test results of the Single and Multi-threaded benchmarks conducted on the phone. The newcomer manages to yield some incredible scores. The screengrab of the result shows 942 single-core points and a 2137 average score in the multicore test run.
It would appear the Galaxy A17 5G has an Exynos 1330 platform built on a 5nm fabrication process. There’s no name on the Geekbench scorecard, but you can pinpoint the exact chip by looking at the core architecture: two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz.
A Mali G68 GPU, which we found in the source code of the Geekbench site, also points to the Exynos 1330 chip inside the Samsung's 5G new model. It seems the company will be reusing the same e1330 chip that the Galaxy A16 5G featured last time. Geekbench also comments on its RAM and Android version.
There’s an Android 15 version running on it by default, not the Android 16 we were hoping for. Also, we now have confirmation that the Galaxy A17 5G will come with at least 6GB RAM, although more versions are likely. The Exynos 1330 has support for both LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM types, but it’s up to Samsung to decide which one works best on the A17.
The newcomer is also rumored to have a 120Hz refresh rate on a 1080p FHD+ screen. Now, most of the information on Galaxy A17’s specs is hidden from fans. But we do know it supports Hybrid OIS camera for the first time, which should aid with video stabilization.
Samsung went for the Galaxy A16 5G launch in October, so we won’t be surprised if the A17 5G also debuts in early fall. FCC (US) and SGS (Finland) have already certified the phone, which means it’s right on track for the launch. Stay tuned if you want more updates on the Galaxy A17 before it’s expected debut in October.
