These phones are refreshed every six months, so the brand is already off schedule with the Realme 17 Pro lineup. The older 16 Pro series made it to the global market in January. The company isn’t slacking, though. They’ve been actively developing the Realme 17 Pro Plus and 17 Pro. The leak on X is about one of these newcomers.
The leaker could be talking about either of these sibling, because no name was implicitly mentioned, though they did say it’s from the Realme 17 Pro series. From the way it’s being reported all over the internet, we’ll bet that it’s actually the Realme 17 Pro Plus.
Apparently, the leaker pegs this Realme 5G new model with an OLED screen at 1.5K resolution. And there’s a possibility of a 120Hz base refresh rate or a 165Hz option for supported games. The phone doesn’t run at 165Hz all the time. It should be obvious that there aren’t many titles that would run at 165Hz on a midrange SoC.
This Realme 17 Pro series phone seems to have a Dimensity 7500 SoC. That’s an eight-core 2.6GHz package, and there’s a Mali-G625 MP2 on it. This is not the fastest SoC around, but it’s the newest. Phones with this chip get WiFi 6 and LPDDR5/UFS 3.1.
Anyway, the reason why we think this could be a Realme 17 Pro Plus is the camera setup. They apparently want to install a 200MP main camera on the back, and there will be a 50MP periscope telephoto in the neighborhood for 3.5X optical zoom. It even has an Ultrawide.
The battery upgrade would be insane. A 7000mAh battery was used last time on the Realme 16 Pro Plus. That’s getting replaced with a 10,000mAh cell on the Realme 17 Pro Plus. That’s the second phone from Realme with that kind of battery after the P4 Power. Again, the leaker could be talking about either device, Pro or Pro Plus. The situation is developing. Keep watching the news for more updates.
