Xiaomi first unveils a Redmi K series in China, and then rebrands it as a Poco F lineup to be released globally. That’s been their tradition for several years, and it’s not going to change anytime soon. So, the Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro are presumed to be the name-swapped Redmi K90 and K90 Pro Max versions. A new leak says the global F8 series will have less battery.

These are sibling brands working under the umbrella of Xiaomi. They already debuted the Redmi K90 Pro Max, and it’s being counted among the first devices in the world with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. But we are on the subject of batteries here, so we’ll stick to those details.
The K90 Pro Max showed up on the scene with a 7560mAh battery, which is a monster of a power pack that will last two days on normal usage. Now, these K devices don’t usually face any regulatory issues since they keep to the home market, but the global industry works a bit differently.

The latest Xiaomi Poco mobile was found in the Hyper OS source code by an X leaker, Kacper Skrzypek. There was a clear difference in the battery size over the original model, not only for the Ultra, but also for the Poco F8 Pro. So first things first, let’s get those numbers straight.
Redmi K90 Pro has a 7100mAh battery, but its global F8 Pro counterpart is capped at 6,210mAh. The K90 Pro Max goes up to 7560mAh capacity, but the global Poco F8 Ultra drops it to 6500mAh. Those Poco phones are at a clear disadvantage here. At least for now, there’s no telling if these Poco phones have Si/C cells.

What we can tell by the pattern is that the Poco F8 series will keep the same specs as the original Redmi K90 family, except for the batteries. So, assume the F8 Pro with a Snapdragon 8 Elite and the F8 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips. Each phone is based on Hyper OS 3 and Android 16.
The Pro may be a 6.59” OLED device, and the Ultra will stick to a rather massive 6.9” OLED, obviously with an Ultrasonic fingerprint, 2K resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. Of course, the company hasn’t even started teasing this F8 lineup, so you must count these details as speculation. We’ll let you know more about these devices near launch. Stick around for updates.
