The Bose-tuned Poco F8 Pro was just launched globally, and the price tag is fascinating. This is indeed a rebranded Redmi K90. The only thing they had to tweak was its battery size to make it legal outside China. The rest of its specs and design are identical. This is all you need to know about Poco F8 Pro.
This is a phone built around a 6.59” flat OLED screen that hits 3500nits local peak brightness. TUV cleared it for Blue Light and Flicker-free certifications. The panel has your usual 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. But they did up the color depth to 12-bit with an HDR10+ rating.
The panel is obviously one of the premium ones. That quality is carried over to the chipset as well. It’s a Snapdragon 8 Elite running Hyper OS 3 Android 16 OS on this device. This is a flagship platform from last year — outdated, but still among the best mobile chips out there.
The battery is cut down, as we had hoped. The original K90 had a 7100mAh cell. The Xiaomi latest Poco mobile knocks it to 6210mAh, which is still decent, though it lacks the competitive edge. At least the phone has 100W fast charging. That should help with battery anxiety.
Poco F8 Pro’s RAM is based on LPDDR5X (9600 Mbps) 12GB memory. And they teamed it with 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. That’s a decent setup. 16+1TB didn’t carry over to the global market. The dual-speaker setup here has Bose optimizations, and there are at least three Mics around its chassis.
There’s also WiFi 7 built into this handset. It’s sealed tight for an IP68 water resistance. Three cameras lay on the back. One of them is a 50MP main LightFusion 800 sensor with OIS support. The others are 50MP (2.5x) telephoto and 8MP ultrawide. That selfie shooter on the screen is a 20MP.
By the way, this device has an Ultrasonic fingerprint reader, so it’s pushing into the flagship category. There’s also AI Face Unlock here, but it’s obviously not as reliable. All of this is packed into an 8mm thin chassis. Poco F8 Pro is the cheaper option from the series. Its starting price in a 12/256GB format is $579 (~PKR 163,000). This is a semi-flagship phone by all accounts.
