Oppo's Take On A Foldable Phone Might Be Launching Next Month, Key Specs Leaked

Samsung has been experimenting with foldable phones for a few years now (with some successes and some failures under their belt.) But so far, their foldables have been variations of a single form factor. OPPO, on the other hand, showed off a very novel rollable concept device earlier this year. Rumor had it that Oppo might soon enter the market with this folding product. Now, it seems that this next-gen Oppo is coming sooner than you might think.

A source based in China reports the launch month and a few specs of this mystery foldable. It’s far from official, but if this particular rumor has any credibility, we’re going to see Oppo launch its foldable phone in November.

No details about this alleged phone have been released by Oppo. But the source claims that the phone features a giant 8-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Further leaks note that the panel of the upcoming addition to the Oppo price list would be manufactured by Samsung. And that it will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. So Oppo is also aiming for the premium segment. The phone is reportedly going to have a fingerprint scanner on its side, a 50-megapixel rear camera with Sony’s IMX766 sensor, as well as a 32-megapixel camera on the front.

It’s too early to predict the price, but we expect it to be much more expensive than Oppo’s typical flagships. In either case, Oppo is directly competing not just with Samsung, but also Google, Vivo, and Xiaomi as these companies are planning on releasing their foldable phones very soon.
