Oppo Reno 2, 2Z and 2F got official with rear quad cameras and notchless displays

Oppo unveiled its New high-end Reno2 family Globally, on Wednesday 28, in an event held in New Delhi, India. The new lineup consists of three smartphone models: in addition to the main variant, there is also the Reno 2Z and the Reno 2F.


All the three Smartphones have few features in common, such as a set of four rear cameras, a 48 MP main sensor, up to 20x of digital zoom and also a notch-free display. 

The new Oppo Reno 2 series comes with several new innovations related to the cameras. One of which is the Ultra Dark Mode feature, having the ability to snap quality photos even when the ambient light is below 5 lux. Unlike the previous generation, the new Reno lineup does not have a periscope module, this time around its just 5x hybrid zoom along with a telephoto sensor that goes up to 20x (digital zoom).


To top it off, All the three handsets offer Portrait and Ultra modes for photos, electronic image stabilization and 4K resolution support for flicker-free video. All Reno 2 devices have a similar look, preferring a notch-less display at the front and leaving the selfie camera hidden. In the case of the main model, the front shooter resides in a motorized shark-fin while the rest of the two are equipped with a pop-up mechanism.


The trio comes equipped a vertically aligned rear quad camera setup, placed in the center while the LED flash is located on the right. No biometric sensor on the back as they all come with an in-display fingerprint, placed under the screen.

OPPO Reno 2 Price & Specs

The main variant of the family, the Reno 2 is the only one to come equipped with Qualcomm chipset. It features the Snapdragon 730G gamer's edition, plus a 6.55 inch Dynamic AMOLED display and Full HD + resolution. Memorie department consists of options to have either 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage.

On the cameras, its rear quadruple array is comprised of Sony IMX586 48 (f /1.7) + 13 MP telephoto (f / 2.4) + 8 MP wide-angle 116 ° + 2 MP monochrome sensors. The lens on the shark-fin is comprised of a 16 MP sensor.


To top it off is the 4,000 mAh battery - fast charging VOOC 3.0 - and the Android 9 Pie, under ColorOS 6.1 interface, as the operating system. The reno 2 is priced at 1126 USD which converts to some 80,000 Pakistani rupees.

OPPO Reno 2Z Specs & Price

The Reno 2Z variant from OPPO comes with a 6.53-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, the MediaTek Helio P90 platform launched last year in December 2018 - and options to go with either 6GB/128 GB or 8GB/256 GB variant as RAM over internal storage respectively.


The four rear cameras come with 48 MP Sony IMX586 (f / 1.7) + 8 MP wide-angle 119 ° + 2 MP monochrome + 2 MP depth sensors. Whereas the front sensor is again 16 MP but instead of a fin it's placed in a motorized pop-up module.

The battery is same at 4,000 mAh - with support for VOOC 3.0 - and the operating system is also the same, consisting of Android 9 Pie under the ColorOS 6.1 interface. OPPO Reno 2z will cost around 417 USD which converts to some 65,500 PKR.

OPPO Reno 2F Specs & Price

The main difference in Reno 2F, as compared to its brother the 2Z,  is ​​a less powerful and older chipset. The 2Z variant comes with a MediaTek Helio P70, featuring a 6.53-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, And just one option of 128 GB, in terms of internal storage.


For photos, the device has a 48MP primary Samsung GM1 sensor + 8 MP wide-angle 119 ° + 2 MP monochrome + 2 MP depth sensors and again a 16 MP front snapper fixed in a motorized pop-up module. In addition, there is similar capacity 4,000 mAh battery and the ColorOS 6.1 interface on top of Android 9 Pie operating system. The price for the Reno 2F has not been revealed so far.

OPPO Reno 2 Series Availability

The Reno 2F will only arrive for sale in November this year, with no specific date disclosed. The Reno 2 & 2F on the other hand, will hit the Indian market first, in September and will, later on, spread to the other countries. Official launch dates for Pakistan are not yet known but the series is expected to arrive real soon.
