OPPO has been working on their first foldable phone since 2018. There have been concept phones, prototypes, but the Chinese phone brand hadn’t brought a foldable to the market yet. That’s soon changing when the OPPO Find N drops this month. OPPO teased its arrival with an official press release.

Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer at OPPO, introduce OPPO’s first foldable flagship. OPPO Find N 5G is launching on December 15 at the OPPO INNO Day event. The press release features an early preview, showcasing the phone's hinge and triple camera. Also worth highlighting is the Find N's distinct lack of a crease (which usually runs above the hinge in a typical foldable.) No other phone maker has managed to pull it off yet. The foldable phone stands out in its screen durability as well.

The press release explains why OPPO is late to the ‘foldable’ party. Although the upcoming Find N has been in the pipeline for over four years, OPPO was reluctant to go to the market with the product until it was polished enough to become a daily driver. “For OPPO, it is better to launch a product at a later date when it is ready to offer a great user experience instead of simply rushing to keep up with trends,” Mr. Lau noted. Consider the failings of the first Samsung Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X for context.

OPPO claims to have side-stepped the engineering pitfalls of a typical foldable phone by waiting for the right time. For starters, the Latest OPPO Find mobile doesn’t have a crease on its display — no other foldable has managed to iron out this kink so far. Plus, we’re promised better overall durability.

The design was another priority for the OPPO Find N. Despite the cutting-edge hardware inside, the Find N keeps reasonable dimensions and weight. Simply put, it’s supposed to be pleasant on the eye and the hand. We’ll find out more when the OPPO Find N is unveiled next week.
