Following a long, drawn-out teaser campaign, the LTE edition of the Oppo A95 has finally dropped in Malaysia. The A95 4G is not a new phone but the latest in a long line of rebrands and renamings.

Since it came out earlier this year, the A74 has been sold under five different names. Oppo has given the Oppo A95 4G a new glowing Rainbow Silver and Starry Black. This latest iteration is also launching in Pakistan by the month-end.

The shell of the new Oppo a54 sibling is made of plastic, but it resists fingerprints and has a satin touch. Oppo A95 4G weighs only 175g and measures 7.95mm in thickness — overall a lightweight footprint.

Turn the New 4G Oppo mobile over to reveal its big AMOLED screen. The A95 has a 6.4” display with a 1080P resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone averages 600 nits of brightness and 180Hz touch sampling when in gaming mode. The contrast ratio should make for sharp, crisp colors. Hidden under this panel is an optical fingerprint scanner.

The camera system is a standard affair for a phone in the price category (although an ultra-wide lens would have been welcome.) We’re looking at a cluster of 48MP wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP portrait lenses. Oppo has also punched a hole through the phone’s corner to house the 16MP front camera. Night mode, AI scene enhancement, and filters are built into the camera app.

But the Oppo A95 4G comes up short in performance. The engine inside the phone is the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 662. It’ll show its age quickly because the chip is already two years old (and the GPU is even older.) The 8GB of memory, 33W charging, and 5000 mAh battery somewhat compensate for the low-end chip. Oppo A95 4G starts at MYR 1,099 (~ Rs. 45,900.)
