The industry’s starting to feel A6 series fatigue. And we still don’t see any sign of Oppo putting a stop to this overgrown lineup. Anyway, the series has grown once again with a new device called the Oppo A6k 5G. It has a different design and a bigger battery than the original A6k 4G.

It’s just a generic entry-level build that has been upgraded to run 5G. There’s a Dimensity 6300 chip here. Extra performance is just a side benefit of having a 5G-ready chip. The original 4G version ran a Snapdragon 685, so it was quite weak in that department.
A bigger 7,000 mAh battery is being used on the Oppo new A model. 45W charging speed is also pretty decent, and it will refill the cell in under 2 hours. One more thing they changed is the safety rating. It’s actually way higher on the A6k 5G than it was on the 4G version.

The phone passed an IP69 rating, so you can completely submerge the A6k 5G in water and pull it out unharmed. Its backplate looks a bit different, but we’ve seen the same look on other A6 phones. Oppo A6s comes to mind. Anyway, nothing’s different about its screen.

It’s a device with a garden-variety 6.75” IPS LCD that only packs 720p HD+ resolution. There’s a 120Hz refresh rate. A6k’s backlight will reach 1125 nits in HBM mode. And we have a punch crop at the front where they put an 8MP selfie shooter.

Oppo A6k 5G refresh would’ve been a perfect opportunity for an Android version upgrade. But they still used the old Android 15 Color OS 15 inside this device. This handset will take the storage all the way up to 512GB UFS 2.2 with 12GB LPDDR4X memory. At least it has variety.
The cameras you see on the back are a 50MP main PDAF unit next to a 2MP monochrome sensor. It’s a serviceable setup. There’s no AMOLED, so the fingerprint reader sits on the side. The starting price of Oppo A6k 5G (8/256GB) is CNY 1,999, ~$290, ~PKR 81,000.
