These leaked CAD renders show a preliminary view of Apple’s new iPhone Fold. This device might arrive on the same days as the iPhone 18 Pro series. And the basic iPhone 18 could skip 2026 entirely and launch in early 2027. The iPhone Fold has leaked many times over the weeks. These mockups are based on earlier design tips.
So many sources are reporting the same fact. Sonny Dickson’s CAD renders, which he shared on X, also point to a design that looks almost like the First-Gen Pixel Fold. Apple and Google have been inseparable lately. Apple might have taken outside help to build this folding phone.
The Apple iPhone's latest model had a wider aspect ratio, and it was nowhere near as big as the Samsung Z Fold series. Google corrected it for the later generation Pixel Folds. But Apple obviously thinks that the old design had potential. They want a 4:3 aspect ratio for the handset.
There are rumors of a 5.5” cover screen on the iPhone Fold. It’s not a perfectly square handset, but rather a wide and short build. The CAD render shows a corner selfie camera on the inner screen, and a second selfie shooter on the cover display as well.
We hear both selfie cameras are 18MP. The inner screen could be 7.8”, just a little bigger than the Pixel Fold’s 7.6” AMOLED. Of course, there will be two cameras on the back, each a 48MP sensor for standard and ultrawide lenses.
They are not reinventing the wheel here. The newcomer would look like most Android foldables. The mockup has two rear cameras on a raised platform. The lower section is separated right below the island, just like the iPhone 17 Pro. We assume it’s a full-metal design, and there’s a glass panel on the back for wireless charging.
We came across a rumor that Apple is working on a Liquid Metal Hinge and a Titanium frame for the iPhone Fold. This will keep the device thin and lightweight. And Apple would probably fit a 5,500 mAh battery on the Fold. This device will not be cheap, though. The rumor mill predicts the price might exceed $2000.
