As WhatMobile has previously reported, Huawei is rebranding the Huawei Enjoy 10s as the upcoming Huawei P Smart S (which is scheduled for launch soon.) Ahead of this release, however, Huawei has rehashed the same phone as the Huawei Y8p. Huawei didn’t introduce it with a launch event, but the phone is listed on Huawei’s webpage.

Given that the Huawei latest model Enjoy 10s debuted in October last year, the Huawei Y8p still stacks up well against most lower-mid-range 2020 phones.

Unlike most Huawei mid-rangers that use LCD panels and side-mounted thumbprint readers, the Y8p features an OLED display with a fingerprint reader embedded inside it. The screen measures 6.3” and delivers an FHD+ resolution – surrounded by trimmed bezels and a waterdrop notch.

The rear-facing panel is chamfered, sleek, and iridescent. You can pick from the muted-yet-elegant Midnight Black and the exciting Breathing Crystal colors. Though a staple design for Huawei, the 3D curved edges and the feather-weight build do make for a rather ergonomic design.

A triple camera lives inside a vertical bump in the top-left corner, featuring a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The ultra-wide-angle camera has a 120-degree view, and the main lens has an f/1.8 aperture. The front-facing camera uses a 16MP sensor.

A Kirin 710F processor powers the model, in combination with a 4,000 mAh battery (that lacks support for fast charging, but it does charge over USB Type-C). Huawei has opted for 4GB/6GB of memory and 128 GB of storage that can be expanded up to 256 GB. The performance might lag behind most current-gen configurations, but it can be further boosted with ‘GPU Turbo 3.0’.

The hardware runs on the latest EMUI 10.1, and ships with Huawei Mobile Services and the Huawei AppGallery onboard. The global version of Huawei’s website doesn’t describe the pricing for Huawei latest model 2020, but it is retailing for €245 or about 42,500 PKR in Europe.
