Huawei hasn’t really slowed down the development of its Nova lineup. In fact, they might be preparing to debut the Huawei Nova 16 and 16 Pro. There might not be an Ultra variant this time. But there is a possibility of a Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max, which was leaked with specs today, and the entire series got its launch date exposed in China.
There was a leak at Weibo. A leaker with the Fixed Focus Digital handle has uploaded a post that this Nova 16 series will debut on June 1st, which is cutting it pretty close. Less than two weeks are left if that is actually the case. So the teaser phase will begin soon enough.
The leaker has a track record with such predictions, but that doesn’t mean we should take his claims at face value alone. So we are constantly on the lookout for any more sources that would reveal the same launch date. Anyway, other than the matter of debut, Huawei new Flagship model was seen on Weibo with some camera details and key specs.
The camera details came from someone on Weibo with the handle Silver Moon Digital Preview. They say the main camera on the Nova 16 Pro Max is a 200MP outsole. It may be a Samsung ISOCELL, but since Sony has something in the same league now, there’s no way to be sure.
The leaker threw in a breadcrumb that might solve the mystery here. It seems that the 200MP camera is based on a 1/1.28” type sensor. That narrows down the search a little. It can't be a Sony 200MP CMOS. This may be a modified version of the existing ISOCELL HP2 that has a 1/1.3” size.
There are reports of a front 50MP selfie shooter and a periscope 3X sensor somewhere on the back. Some reports even predict a 7000mAh battery and a Kirin 9020 silicon on the Nova 16 Pro Max. There are still many holes in the spec sheet. We’ll continue to monitor the internet for details. Keep watching the news for more updates.
