Huawei Mate 30 Pro spotted in the wild with a unique waterfall Display

We are finally in the second half of 2019, the time of year when the smartphone manufacturers are coming off with the best of their creations. After seeing what lies ahead of Samsung and Apple, Huawei's high-end was still almost a mystery until the Mate 30 Pro finally got caught in real life for the first time.

A pair of Huawei's upcoming flagship, the Mate 30 Pro (along with two other Mate 20X 5G handsets), has been seen for the first time in leaks published on Weibo, a Chinese social media website. The pictures were apparently taken on a subway in China, probably in what appears to be cellular connectivity tests.

As the recently leaked photos indicate, Huawei's next flagship will have a "waterfall Display" with extremely curved edges on both sides of the screen and a fairly wide notch. Although not yet confirmed but this big of a notch should host an enhanced version of Huawei's 3D facial recognition system, using the infrared laser and dot projector just like its predecessor the Huawei mate 20 Pro.

As expected from a high-end smartphone from 2019, the side bezels of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro are almost unnoticeable, but due to the protective cover installed on both the devices, the bezel on the top and bottom are not clearly visible.

Reliable leaks of the Mate 30 Pro back panel has not yet been seen, however, the number of cameras is expected to increase from three to four. An additional 3D ToF camera can be added to the main camera setup on the rear, just like the Huawei P30 Pro.

Though the images reveal significant screen curvature around the edges, it's not at all surprising. A previously leaked screen protector had already confirmed the Huawei Mate 30 Pro to be arriving with a large curved screen.

Huawei has already unveiled a new state-of-the-art chipset in the fall, which is more likely to be introduced for the first time in the forthcoming Mate series. So all bets are on the Mate 30 Pro to be boasting a Kirin 985 under the hood. With a more sophisticated manufacturing process, the new circuit should provide higher clock frequencies for better performance.

Chances are that Huawei Mate 30 Pro may come with 5G support by default, as the leaked images clearly show the Mate 30 Pro to be tested alongside the Mate 20 X 5G smartphones, and the Kirin 985 was also rumored earlier to arrive with an integrated 5G modem. The complete specs are yet to be leaked but rumored specs include a 4,200 mAh battery along with a 55W fast charge support.
