Honor 500 Pro hasn’t received a launch date yet, but it’s definitely on the way. The company should make an announcement soon. It’s part of a bigger series, and the first batch may also include a vanilla model. We’ve found the Honor 500 Pro in a leak today that exposes its battery and chipset.

The leak came from Honor’s hometown, China. Digital Chat Station’s post on Weibo is going viral as the tipster has confirmed an 8000mAh battery for Honor 500 Pro. Honor 400 Pro only had a 5300 mAh cell, making this a huge generation-to-generation upgrade.
DCS also talked about the screen being a mid-size 6.5” panel, so the dimensions are conversely getting smaller, while the battery pack is getting bigger. It can’t be more obvious that they are using Si/C anode for it. Otherwise, the size-to-battery ratio wouldn’t be possible.
There were some other details in the leak as well. The leaker seems to believe that the newcomer uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a successor to the 8 Gen 3 we had on the Honor 400 Pro. This future Honor new flagship mobile isn’t really a flagship. It can get away with the one-year-old silicon.

The mid-frame is built with metal, and it may be sandwiched between a glass back and an AMOLED screen. Honor 500 Pro was already suspected to have a 200MP Main camera, and DCS’s report adds more weight to that claim. We’ll also find a periscope camera on this handset.

One more upgrade is suspected over the older model. They may swap the Optical fingerprint ID with a faster and more accurate ultrasonic fingerprint reader. That’s usually found on flagship devices, but it’s nice to see such hardware trickle down to less premium models.
The leaker didn’t have anything to say about the Honor 500 Pro’s retail cost, but Honor usually maintains the status quo. So, in keeping with their typical price hierarchy, this newcomer should fall under $700. That was the global SRP for Honor 400 Pro back when it launched. We’ll let you know if there are any more developments on the Honor 500 series launch. Keep watching the news.
