Honor 500 and 500 Pro have been making rounds lately on the internet, though we’ve only seen these phones in leaks until now. They are apparently coming by the end of the year in China, and it seems both handsets have already cleared the country's 3C certification. These are all the details we have on these newcomers.
Now that 3C has cleared Honor 500 and 500 Pro, it’s a straight shot to the teaser spree and launch day. The company has established some credentials for both its devices and dropped a clue about their charging speeds in the process. They have the same input speeds.
Both newcomers will lug around an 80W charger. They didn’t mention that specific number anywhere on the listing, but it’s a simple calculation. The charger they may or may not ship inside the box has output readings of 20VDC and 4A (Max) — that’s 80W.
Well, these aren’t exactly flagship phones, so 80W is fast enough. Their model numbers are MEP-AN00 and MEY-AN00. If there are any other certifications along the way, those numbers should be a dead giveaway. And last bit of detail on the certification, Honor's latest 5G models have codenames “Marry” and “MarryP.”
Of course, they couldn’t fit a lot of information on this small but crucial 3C listing. So we have to look elsewhere for other details. Digital Chat Station came across some alleged Honor 500 Pro prototypes, which he said were painted in black, silver, pink, and blue.
The leaker says Honor 500 Pro will one-up its precursor with an even larger cell and a better processor. The older device ran a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. DCS says the Honor 500 Pro is bumping the SoC by one generation, as it scoops up the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip this time.
Three cameras may be coming with the 500 Pro, with a 200MP Samsung HP5 Main sensor, 64MP periscope telephoto, and one with the ultrawide lens. Honor 500 has a more basic setup with just a 200MP Main shooter and an ultrawide (no telephoto). These aren’t concrete details, but they’ll have to do until Honor officially confirms the series launch. Keep watching the news for more updates.
