Apple iPhone Ultra’s Split Battery Leaks with a Surprisingly Lower Total Capacity

Earlier leaks were pretty optimistic about the battery size on the Apple iPhone Ultra, which is Apple’s very first foldable device. The leakers now advise you to throttle back your expectations, because the actual figures are not that impressive. We found a leak in China that gave us its exact battery size.

It’s a wide foldable device, the iPhone Ultra. So it’s obvious that the battery will split into two parts. That’s just how the foldables are made. Now, those split batteries needed to be registered, and that’s how the supply chain watcher got his hands on the battery figures.

One split cell is 1,921 mAh. And there’s another that also got simultaneously registered by Apple’s battery supplier, which is a 2,962 mAh cell. The minimum total you get with these batteries is 4,883 mAh capacity. That’s nowhere near the numbers the rumor mill had reported earlier.

Some claims were made in the past weeks that either a big 5,800mAh cell will be installed on the Apple iPhone latest model, or it will go with something more modest like the 5,500 mAh cell. But it turns out, both predictions were wrong. Digital Chat Station’s leak today far exceeds the credibility of these old rumors.

Apple usually doesn’t bother with advertised and true battery sizes, so it’s a very real possibility that they’ll officially put 4,883 mAh on the spec sheet. But if they did want to round this figure, the leaker says they’ll either go with 5,000 mAh or 4,800 mAh, which are nice even numbers.

By the way, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the main competitor for the iPhone Ultra, and that device from Korea has the same 4800 mAh battery, if the leaks are right. That’s not a lot for either foldable phone, though. These two brands have clever software tricks to optimize and squeeze more screen time out of their batteries.

$2000 is the alleged price tag for the iPhone Ultra, which is a big ask for a device in its infancy. We do know that its RAM will be 12GB. And they’ll put Apple A20 Pro silicon on it. There are two rear cameras, and its dummy units show that its thickness is very close to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Keep watching the news for more updates.
