iPhone Fold will be released this year, and there’s no doubt about it at this point. It will show up next to iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, while Apple delays the basic iPhone 18 to 2027. There’s a chance that the iPhone Fold will beat the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in endurance. A new report confirms its battery size.
The leaker Fixed Focus Digital is keeping a close eye on the iPhone Fold throughout its production phase. And he’s found out that its battery could be 5,500 mAh or bigger. That’s a bigger number than the iPhone 17 Pro Max itself, which only uses a 5,088 mAh cell.
But a comparison to a bar-style iPhone doesn’t matter here. The Apple iPhone latest model is really challenging the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it will beat this device. Samsung only used a 4,400 mAh battery on its book-format foldable handset. And it struggles hard with endurance.
There are other foldables on the market, not just the Z Fold 7. iPhone Fold’s battery doesn’t really stack up with the likes of Oppo Find N5 (5,600 mAh) or Vivo X Fold 5 (6,000 mAh). There’s still a chance that Apple’s folding device will be much more efficient, just like its iPhones.
An investor note was leaked a while ago. It said that the iPhone Fold’s inner screen is actually a 7.8” panel. The cover/outer screen will be only 5.3”. It couldn’t be more obvious that the iPhone Fold has the same size format as the original Google Pixel Fold.
Jeff Pu’s report says that the Apple A20 Pro chip is pulling the load on the iPhone Fold. There’s also an Apple N2 dedicated connectivity chip, and possibly a self-made 5G modem (Apple C2). They obviously have to rely on Touch ID (side-fingerprint), which is the conventional route for foldables.
There are obviously two cameras on the iPhone Fold in a horizontal bar like the iPhone Air. Renders have been floating around on the web. It’s only the company’s first try at making a folding device, so we can’t expect perfection from the handset. Keep watching the news for updates.
