Vivo’s Exynos-powered series, the Y70s, is soon to be joined by a brand new member: the Vivo Y70 which also be powered by a Samsung-made chip. Expected to debut globally this month at an attractive Vivo price point, the Y70’s core specifications have been leaked on the Chinese social media site, Weibo.

The Vivo Y70 has an LCD display of unknown dimensions and is manufactured by the JDI. The screen of the upcoming handset produces an FHD+ resolution at a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

Samsung supplies the Exynos 880 mobile platform which handles the number-crunching, coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable native storage (a downgrade from the Y70s which allowed for microSD card expandability).

The sub-flagship internals are hooked to a 4,500 mAh, that is recharged over a USB Type-C port, supporting 18W fast charging. Vivo lopped off the stereo speakers the Y70s has and replaced them with only a single speaker. The Exynos 880 (essentially an underclocked Exynos 980) has an integrated 5G modem, so the Y70 should retain the 5G connectivity.

The primary camera on Vivo Y70 is another piece of hardware from Samsung — a Samsung GM1 sensor, coupled with an 8MP ultra-wide module, and a 2MP depth lens. Note that this camera setup is inherited from the Y70s, (except the selfie camera which is swapped for an OV8856 8MP front camera). The leak also reveals that Vivo has augmented the optics with ‘Electronic Image Stabilization’.
