Vivo’s budget Y-series grew by another member today when the Vivo Y55s 5G dropped in China. The Y55s is the latest in a long line of cheap 5G phones. But unlike most of these cookie-cutter models, the new Vivo Y53s sibling stands out from the rest with a highlight feature.

Vivo Y55s 5G packs a massive 6000 mAh battery. You can comfortably get a day of heavy use out of this battery or more. Vivo promises a remarkable 35 days on standby and 20 hours of video playback out of a single charge. The phone is quickly charged over 18W of power when you run out.

The rest of the spec sheet lines up with a typical 5G Y-series phone. At its heart, Vivo Y55s has the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. It’s an entry-level but power-efficient platform. 8GB of memory covers multitasking. Plus, you get 128GB of  UFS 2.1 storage. The Origin OS 1.0 runs on this hardware.

The build of the latest Vivo 5G mobile follows the standard design language: camera rectangle, notch, and the three-color palette. You can pick the casing in iridescent blue-pink, midnight black, and yellow-rose finishes. Its fingerprint scanner blends with the power button. Vivo Y55s rocks a 3.5mm audio jack, but a storage expansion slot is missing.

We’re looking at a 6.58” IPS LCD on the other side. It’s a 1080P screen with no high refresh or touch sampling rates available. The camera embedded in its notch is 8MP. We find a 50MPf/1.8 wide-angle lens, a 4cm macro camera, and an LED flash making up a cluster on the back. Vivo Y55s starts from CNY 1,699 ( ~ Rs. 47,000) in China.
