The seemingly endless barrage of Y-series phones from Vivo continues as the phone maker gears up to churn out yet another model. No word from official Vivo channels yet but the Vivo Y53s' new sibling, the Y55s is set to launch on December 4. The phone has passed through regulatory authorities, one of which publicly listed its specs and previews.

Vivo Y55s is featured on the China Telecom database alongside its detailed spec sheet and two press images. It’s a formulaic build, based on the blueprint shared by almost every recent Y-series phone.

We’re looking at a curved plastic shell, painted in an iridescent blue finish and a clean, accented camera plate that houses two lenses and an LED flash. Vivo Y55s also comes in Ceramic Black and Cherry Pink Meteor.

Turn the new member of the Vivo price list over to meet its notched screen. It’s a 6.58” IPS LCD that peaks at 1080P in resolution and embeds an 8MP front camera in its notch. The dual camera on the back is made of 50MP wide and 2MP portrait lenses. The Y55s build also includes a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio port, and a power button that pulls double duty as the fingerprint scanner.

At 9.17mm of depth and 199g of weight, the phone has a considerable footprint. Most of this heft comes from the massive 6000 mAh battery inside the Vivo Y55s. It’s charged over 18W of power. Plus, you get 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G powers everything. Android 11 runs on this hardware. Vivo Y55s starts from  1,899 Yuan (~ Rs. 52,000.)
