Vivo has had Y55s in its mid-range catalog since 2021. It boasted well-rounded specs and a quality design with 5G-ready Dimensity 700 SoC. The model launched yesterday in Taiwan has a similar name but features a refined design and a new lens assortment. Here’s an in-depth review.

On the new Vivo Y55s 5G, users will find a 6.55-inch IPS screen with a slightly intrusive notch. There’s a Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2408 pixels), a 20:9 aspect ratio, an impressive screen-to-body at ~90.6%, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It maps 96% of the NTSC color gamut scale.

With rounded corners and a slimmer profile, Vivo Y55s boasts a comfortable grip. Its flat build now houses a 5000mAh battery trimmed from the 6000mAh capacity we saw in the original. It ships in Galaxy Blue and Star Black colorways.

Renewed Y55s 5G brings a fresh camera design. On a rectangular island, two silos house a primary 50MP sensor and a 2MP depth mapper with a bare LED flash. For selfies, the new entrant to the Vivo price catalog has an 8MP unit under the notched header. It embeds a standard side-facing biometric ID into the power button.

Under the hood, New Vivo Y55s 5G holds a Dimensity 700 SoC accompanied by 128Gigs of native storage, which is available with either 4GB or 6GB RAM variants. It boots up to a FunTouch OS 12 flavor OF Android 12 and sports charging speeds up to 18W.

Along with a Type-C port, it sports a 3.5mm round port for audio and a tri-slot SIM tray with SD-card compatibility. Converting prices from Taiwanese dollars, the remodeled Vivo Y55s 5G costs ~PKR 60,500 and ~PKR 64,500 for 4+128 and 6+128 variants, respectively. Even the recently launched Vivo Y22 mobile price in Pakistan is around Rs. 55.000.
