Vivo Y400 4G Debuts with Old Snapdragon 685 Chip and 6000mAh Battery

Vivo has just brought a new Y series phone in Indonesia that features an old Snapdragon 685 chip with LTE connectivity and a 6000mAh battery. Vivo Y400 4G has gone official with a flat 120Hz AMOLED screen and a camera layout borrowed from the original Vivo Y400 Pro.

This newcomer doesn’t have an edge profile like its Pro counterpart. The base Vivo Y400 has a flat 6.67” AMOLED on the front that bears 1080p FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its DCI-P3 color gamut range is 100% and the phone hits 1800 nits peak brightness under the sun.

It’s also IP68/IP69 rated, which is unconventional to the hierarchy. The original Vivo Y400 Pro only has an IP65 rating that’s nowhere near as durable. However, the base Vivo Y400 falls back in line in the performance category with its old entry-level chip.

Snapdragon 685 is a 6nm chip from 2023 with eight cores and a 2.8GHz peak clock speed. Its CPU processing speed is passable, but the SoC’s Adreno 610 GPU doesn’t keep up with newer platforms anymore. So, the gaming performance and visual fidelity might suffer on the Vivo budget new model

This new Vivo model has two cameras on the back and a ring LED flash. The first sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX852, which is a decent shooter. The other lens carries a 2MP portrait assistant. Vivo Y400 has all the latest bells and whistles of the Android 15 x Funtouch OS 15 system, and there are a bunch of AI features to enhance your photos.

Vivo Y400 has come out in Purple Twilight and Tropical Green colors, each with a 7.9mm body and 196 grams of weight. It’s quite thin, yet still possesses a 6000mAh battery under the shell. It even supports 44W fast charging, which shouldn’t take more than 1.5 hours to refill the battery.

Vivo’s Indonesian site doesn’t reveal the memory option or the official cost of this device. Vivo Y400 is bound to arrive in more countries soon, so it’s only a matter of time before the price comes out. Stick around if you want to stay in the loop.
