After it made its debut last month in China, the Vivo Y31s 5G is soon slated for a global launch. For our readers out of the loop, the Y31s was the first phone to feature Qualcomm’s first budget 5G chip, the Snapdragon 480. Google Play Console has the phone listed on its database now. So with the Y31s, the Snapdragon 480 is also going global.

Vivo hasn’t made any announcements yet, but given that the Vivo Y51s' new sibling is up on Google Play Console, the official release shouldn’t be far off. The affordable Snapdragon 480 uses an integrated 5G modem and offers improved performance over the previous-gen Snapdragon 400 series chips.

It’s hooked up to a 5000 mAh battery and fast charges over 18W. The latest Android11-based FunTouchOS powers the Vivo Y31s 5G. 4GB/6GB of memory does the multi-tasking and 128GB of storage rounds the setup off.

But no microSD card slot is available, so the Y31s lacks the storage expansion. Nevertheless, it can still be a valuable addition to the Vivo price list. The 3.5mm headphone jack is retained. While the side-facing power button doubles as the fingerprint scanner.

Aside from the latest chip, this entry-level 5G phone also has a 90Hz display. The 6.58” panel delivers a 1080P resolution and fills a 20:9 aspect ratio. A notch is carved into the screen to house the 8MP front-facing camera. We’re looking at a dual camera on the back — a 13MP f/2.2 primary lens and a secondary 2MP depth sensor.

Vivo Y31s 5G comes in Monet, Titanium Gray, and Ruby Red shades. And starts from 1,698 Yuan (~ Rs. 42,000.)
