Vivo is coming with yet another 5G-powered Y-series phone soon. The Vivo Y31s 5G is now up on China Telecom. And the documentation, featuring product renders and specifications, leaves little to the imagination. Here is what the Y31s 5G offers.
Let’s start with the phone’s internals. Vivo usually opts for MediaTek’s Dimensity silicon for their budget 5G phones, but the Vivo Y31s has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 at its heart.
It’s listed under its codename ‘SM4350’. This 5nm chipset is the first 5G mobile platform from Qualcomm’s 600 series. Launched in summer this year, the Snapdragon 690 is powered by Android11 (with Vivo’s new OriginOS custom skin). The motherboard is hooked up to a 4910 mAh battery that charges over 18W. The Y31s features a USB Type-C interface and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Vivo has been recycling the ‘AG Glass’ shell design the whole season. You’re looking at the familiar design — squared-off plastic back, ‘big eye’ camera array on top of it, and a notch on the front. The Vivo Y31s finish has a soft, multi-hued aesthetic to it. Ruby Red and Titanium Gray are also available. The fingerprint scanner is embedded into the frame, where it doubles as the power button.
Camera specs for the Y31s aren’t described in detail, but the two rear cameras have 13MP and 2MP sensors inside them — one standard and the other portrait. The selfie camera uses an 8MP sensor. Vivo Y31s is launching on December 31. It’ll be shipped with 6GB+128GB of memory and start from CNY 1,798 (~ Rs. 44,000).
