vivo Y31s 5G Debuts in Malaysia With 6500mAh Battery; Pakistan May Follow

Vivo Y31s is reborn with a new design and hardware. The company unveiled this newcomer in Malaysia today, rehashing the Y31s from 2021. This is just the beginning of a wider Asian rollout. More countries will join the cycle. And the handset might eventually arrive in Pakistan as well. This is everything you need to know.

The design is definitely an improvement over the older Y31s, but it’s not original. They had the same design for Vivo Y31 (2025): a long vertical camera pill to stack two lenses and a Halo ring LED. The back is not completely flat; you’ll actually notice subtle curves around the edges.

It’s better than the older version in more aspects. This Vivo new Y mobile is apparently running Origin OS 6, which is actually Android 16 at the core. The system is run by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip, which is fitting because the 5-year-old phone had a chipset from the same series, but older.

This new platform has a 2.2GHz CPU. You have a way more efficient 4nm architecture. The chip also allows UFS 3.1 storage speed. It’s entry-level by today’s standard, but it’s perfectly fine for the Vivo V31s, which is built for light tasks anyway.

They didn’t use a 720p display on the phone, which is a relief. Vivo Y31s actually has an FHD+ 1080p 6.72” IPS LCD. There’s a thick chin at the bottom and not-so-subtle bezels, but at least it has a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,050 nits advertised HBM brightness.

The newcomer’s also IP68/IP69 rated. It has better durability than some flagship devices out there. SGS gave it a 5-star drop resistance rating, so if it drops, there’s a chance it will survive the fall. The phone seems to have a 50MP + 2MP camera pair on the back.

There’s a single 32MP selfie shooter on the screen. A 6500mAh battery on the Vivo Y31s is not too shabby. And the newcomer has 44W fast charging backup as well. The official MSRP of the 6/256GB variant that was deployed in Malaysia is MYR 1,199 (~PKR 82,000). The price might be in the ballpark when the Vivo Y31s arrives in Pakistan.
