Vivo Y20 (2021) Goes Official With Helio P35 SoC, 5,000mAh Battery and Triple Rear Cameras

Roughly four months after the Vivo Y20 came out, Vivo has followed up on it with a ‘2021’ model. The new Y20 (2021) is a subtle refresh, much like the V20 (2021) — yet another 2021 edition to launch in December 2020. Here is what it brings.

The new Vivo Y20 2021 is cheaper than the standard old Y20. Vivo has swapped out the Snapdragon 460 for the three-year-old MediaTek Helio P35. The Qualcomm microchip launched earlier this year and it’s built on top of an 11nm fabrication process. Contrast it against the obsolete P35 benchmarks, and you’re looking at a drop in CPU rates, battery life, and gaming performance. Vivo has also left out the 18W fast charging support. That’s essentially all the changes Vivo has made.

The Y20 (2021) runs on a 5000 mAh battery and the last-gen Android10-based FunTouchOS. Even though the re-invented OriginOS is already out. The side-facing fingerprint scanner and 3.5mm headphone jack are still onboard. As is the old-gen micro-USB port.

Out on the front, the Vivo Y20 (2021) has a 6.51” screen with a notch on top. Underneath it lies an IPS LCD, producing an HD+ resolution, and filling a 20:9 aspect ratio. In a similar vein, the design is also recycled. The shell is plastic with Vivo’s familiar sunburst finish, available in white and blue colors. And a squared-off camera plate rests in its corner. all in all an affordable addition to the Vivo price list.

Inside the bump, it’s a three-camera system, featuring a standard camera and a low-resolution duo. We’re looking at a tiny f/2.2 aperture and a 13MP sensor behind it. The other two cameras on Y20 2021 have 2MP sensors, meant for taking portrait and macro shots. But, the selfie camera has a wide f/1.8 aperture with an 8MP sensor.

The Vivo Y20 (2021) made its debut in Malaysia, where it starts from RM 599 (~ Rs. 23,999). It only comes in one, 4GB+64GB, memory configuration.
