They’ve officially announced that the Vivo X500 series will debut in China on September 21st. Vivo X500 Pro Max will spearhead the launch, and its design was already revealed by the company a few days ago. Now they’ve teased all four color options for the Pro Max on Weibo.
Vivo actually made a poll on Weibo asking fans to vote for their favorite color option. And the Sunny Day seems to be the most favored paint job on this device. It’s actually a white dual-tone finish. They’ve split the colors into the upper and lower halves.
There are three other colors, by the way. There’s a grayish Earth Echo and an Orange Lanxia paint job. The least favorite color is Night Shooting. These names are machine translations from Chinese, so these may not be the exact titles of those four colors.
Anyway, we’ve been keeping track of the Vivo new X mobile ever since it passed the Geekbench test. We know that the handset is built around a 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip. This is the first phone to debut with that SoC, and the same is true for Android 17 Origin OS 7.
The chipset is designed on 3+3+2 slabs, and the power cores push the boost frequency to 4.55 GHz. They’ve kept the rest of its details under lock and key. We won’t know what this chipset can do until the X500 Pro Max’s launch. But we do have the benchmark, so a comparison can be drawn here.
A single-core test on the D9600 Pro hit 3,242 points on the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max, and it outputs 11,132 points on the multicore test. A Xiaomi phone on Geekbench managed to yield 3,582 and 12,247 points on the same tests, using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
We also found that Vivo has made its own CMOS for the main camera under Sony’s supervision, and it actually has 17EV of dynamic range. And there’s also a possibility of a 200MP periscope telephoto sensor on the back. Keep watching the news for more updates.
