If you were impressed by the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s uncanny thickness, the Vivo X Fold 5 is a close second. The swiveling Vivo phone is prepared to arrive in Pakistan now, and they’ve just handed out a press release to the local news outlets, making it official.

Vivo X Fold 5 is on its way to our market, and it’s the most sophisticated folding phone to come from their pipeline. It measures 4.3mm (unfolded) and around 9.2mm (folded), which is almost as thick as an iPhone 16 Pro Max with a case on it. It gets even better.

The handset’s minimum weight is 217g, almost as light as the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Vivo has secured an IP58/IP59+ rating for the X Fold 5, which, in layman’s terms, means it can resist high-pressure water jets and survive in 3 meters of deep water for 30 minutes.

From what we’ve gathered, the Vivo new Fold model is built around a 2nd-gen Armor hinge mechanism designed by Vivo. The company seems to have infused carbon fiber elements into this hinge to make it lighter and sturdier. Of course, its chassis is made of metal to keep up with the competition.

It’s a typical book-format design with an inner folding screen and an outer cover display. The former is an 8.03” (2200 x 2480p) AMOLED with an LTPO 120Hz refresh rate and 4500 nits peak brightness for HDR10+ content. It also has a 5280Hz PWM to lower the eye fatigue.

The cover screen on its front side is also an LPTO 120Hz AMOLED, which features FHD+ resolution and HDR10+/Dolby Vision support. It gets even brighter than the folding screen at 5500 nits, and yes, it has a standard 21:9 aspect ratio with a 6.53” size.

Vivo X Fold 5 is based on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, an old but still one of the best flagship chips available. The phone runs on FunTouch OS 15, which is a skinned version of Android 15. And Vivo promises 4 years of OS support for this newcomer.

Its cover display and inner AMOLED both have the same 20MP selfie cameras. The phone’s rear camera setup has ZEISS optics, T* lens coating, and three 50MP sensors (Main OIS + ultrawide + 3x periscope telephoto). There’s UFS 4.1 storage on it, and the phone has enough processing power for 8K 30FPS recording.

The new Vivo X Fold 5 is as thin as ever, but the battery is somehow bigger than all previous generations. There’s a whopping 6000mAh cell inside it with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging options. The X Fold 5 is on standby to be released in Pakistan on August 12th. The price tag will be revealed on the same day.
