Tecno has shaken the entry-level smartphone market with its Spark series of handsets. Last year’s Spark 8 lineup was a huge success, and users anxiously awaited a refresh. Last month, Tecno Spark 9 Pro and 9T got unveiled in African markets while the vanilla Spark 9 is set to take over the Spark 8’s throne by the end of this month.

This time it's rolling out to Asian markets first instead of Africa. According to the official social media sources, the Tecno Spark 9’s Indian launch is due in the next 2 days, and its next stop is expected to be Pakistan. Here’s an overview of the specifications, as listed on an Indian e-commerce platform.

The Spark 9 packs a similar design language as its predecessor. With large boxy patterns, the rear casing holds a shiny camera island at the top. A 13MP primary lens covers the photography needs with the aid of a secondary shooter and LED flash. In addition to the camera duo, a physical fingerprint sensor is also placed within the glossy protrusion.

Screen size is kept at a generous 6.6 inches. It is a 720p LCD with a 90 Hz scan rate. A relatively wide chin peaks from the bottom of the display while the upper waterdrop notch holds the selfie capturer.

A new octa-core MediaTek Helio G37 will act as Spark 9’s brain, unlike the last year’s Helio P22. 6GB RAM (expandable up to 11GB) and 128GB of ROM are also present inside. Fueling the Spark 9 is a 5,000 mAh power unit that electrifies the smartphone rapidly.

The Spark 8 featured the Go version of Android 11; however, the Spark 9 will operate on Android 12 with the brand’s very own HiOS on top. Sky Mirror and Infinity Black are the handset’s two color variants. The Tecno smartphone price tag is expected to be under 25,999 Pakistani Rupees.
