Tecno unveiled Spark Go 2023 recently with quite a fanfare, and deservedly so. It has the best design and specs at an unbelievably low cost. In light of Tecno Go’s exceeding sales, the chain has quickly rebranded the model to “Tecno Pop 7 Pro” and silently unveiled it in an African market. Pop 7 Pro has similar color dressings and chassis with slightly re-engineered features.

A sizable phone with a boxy shape, the Tecno Pop 7 Pro has a stylized back panel and a primary camera module with a 13MP sensor, and a QVGA depth mapper endowed with dual LED flash. Identical to Spark Go’s design, it houses a fingerprint reader inside the camera island.

Pop 7 Pro has it all for a meager price tag; an immersive 6.56-inch LCD screen with HD+ 720p resolution, a standard 60Hz refresh rate, and a 5MP selfie shooter that lives inside the drop-notch forehead of the phone. For a sub-entry-level smartphone, it has surprisingly uniform bezels.

For processing, a MediaTek Helio A22 octa-core chipset powers the Tecno Pop 7 Pro. It offers 3GB to 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. For additional storage, the Tecno new Pop model has a complimentary SD card slot. A 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging keeps the phone running all day.

In essentials, the phone highlights a Type-C port, dual SIM with Voice over LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and full-fledged Android 12 with HiOS skin on top. Launched in Nigeria, the phone costs ~140 USD or ~PKR 37,000. The phone is also extending sales to Uganda at a similar price tag.
