A string of hands-on photos recently leaked everything there is to know about Tecno’s latest premium phone, the Phantom X. Right on the heels of this leak, Tecno made it official. Phantom X debuted in Africa, and it’s already available for pre-ordering in Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Congo.

The announcement was accompanied by early teaser clips and posters, not to mention some key features. For starters, Tecno Phantom X has a ‘waterfall’ display that curves on both edges.

It’s surrounded by a paper-thin bezel and marked with a pill-shaped cutout. We’re looking at a 6.7” panel with a Full HD resolution. It responds at a smooth 90Hz refresh rate.

The backplate of the Tecno Camon 17 Pro's upcoming sibling, which appears to be polycarbonate, has a similar 3D curve design to it. Four cameras are arranged in the center of the phone, inside double-layered housing. Phantom X comes in two color variants — Van Gogh Sky Blue and Monet’s Summer Garden.

The array is led by a 50MP wide lens. Plus, two 13MP and 8MP cameras and an unknown lens round off the setup. Tecno Phantom X features a versatile selfie camera system too. In addition to a standard 48MP front camera, you also get an 8MP front lens for ultrawide group selfies.

As for the performance, the Phantom X uses the MediaTek Helio G95 for number-crunching. It’s a 4G budget ‘gaming’ chip with an eight-core CPU clocked at 2.05GHz. A 4,700 mAh battery powers the phone and can be quick-charged over 33W. Android11-based HiOS runs on the Phantom X straight out of the box.
