Reports suggest Samsung will introduce a Tri-Fold Galaxy phone by the end of 2025. The phone’s name, as speculated on the internet, is “Galaxy Z TriFold.” Ever since that name appeared in the trademark files, the rumor mill has been trying to expose this handset. Today, we’ve found a clip that shows how the multi-fold mechanism works on Galaxy Z TriFold.
The 5-second video went viral on X/Twitter. It’s a basic toon-style animation, probably extracted from one of Samsung’s latest firmware builds. This wouldn’t be a first, since we’ve seen easter eggs like this before hidden in the One UI 8 source code.
This is an interesting fold mechanism. The cover display sits in the middle with two flaps unfolding from each side. The left side flap unfolds first and allows the second flap to unfold on the right side of the cover. Here’s the clip that shows exactly how it works.
This animation demonstrates how you can take selfies with its rear triple camera. It works almost the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with just one extra step. The latest Samsung Fold mobile has a far intelligent design than its rival, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Tri-Fold.
Huawei’s device has to expose the sensitive inner screen when you fold it in a “Z” format. Samsung, however, has a completely different implementation because it has an additional cover screen. The left and right sections fold one on top of the other, completely hiding the soft inner display when you close it.
Tecno revealed something similar when it demoed the Phantom Ultimate G Fold. This kind of mechanism needs two hinges, one bigger than the other. Previous leaks sourced from One UI 8 also gave away the exact position of the wireless charging coil on the Z TriFold. It sits below the camera system.
Of course, there’s no official comment on this device yet, but we’ll be hearing from Samsung soon. The launch is allegedly set in October, so the wait shouldn’t be long. One thing you can be sure of is that Samsung will limit the phone’s availability instead of going for a full-blown global release in the first cycle. Keep watching the news so you don’t miss any updates.
