It was about time the One UI 8.5 update ventured outside the South Korean borders. They took their sweet time updating the Samsung Galaxy A16 in the home market. The same phone was seen today with the One UI 8.5 update in the Middle East, which means the global rollout has kicked off.
Galaxy A16 (4G) is getting updated in a few Middle Eastern regions, not all of them. The push of the One UI 8.5 update is still slow, but soon we’ll have the update in Asia, from where it will start deployment in Pakistan too. It goes without saying that you have to be patient for a few more days at this point.
You’ll recognize the update on your Samsung new budget model by the firmware code A165FXXS9CZCA, which only changes a few letters from market to market. If not the same number, you’d at least see a partial match. Anyway, the download package is small.
It’s a 2GB download size for an OTA package that also includes full stock app updates and the May 2026 security patch, with a hefty UI overhaul. The said patch is known to secure 36 weak points in the previous One UI firmware, or at least that’s what Sammobile has observed.
Patch is not the focus. It’s obviously about the jump from One UI 8 to 8.5 and the new features that come with it. We won’t dissect each and every new addition, but it seems the stock apps are updated, and the quick panel is much more customizable.
More clock faces on the lock screen, more animation on the widgets, and some new widgets are a part of this download. The exact contents of Galaxy A16’s One UI 8.5 are still missing from the picture, but the tweaks we shared here have been generally the same on every other Galaxy device.
You might want to regularly “Check for Updates” because they might unlock the update any day now in Pakistan. The checker will be found in the Software Updates menu in the Settings. When the One UI 8.5 is available for download, you’ll get a prompt in the same Settings menu next to a Changelog. The rest is self-explanatory. Keep watching the news for more updates.
