We found evidence last week that Samsung may be working on the One UI 9 Android 17 beta update for the Samsung Galaxy A16. These beta rollouts don’t usually extend so far down the ranks, so we had our doubts. The report was actually spot on. They made the beta official for the Galaxy A16 today.
This update is being pushed to all Galaxy A16 devices enrolled in the beta program in India, and surely more regions will get the same treatment down the line. But, as always, only the users who are Samsung members and live in specific regions can get access to it.
Galaxy A16 owners in Pakistan need to wait for the stable One UI 9 update, and that will take some time. We’ll be here to report when that happens. Beta or not, this is still a full-fledged OS update, so it’s a big download. The report says the update is 2761.46 MB. By the way, have a look at the Samsung Price Catalog to see what Samsung currently offers across its smartphone lineup.
A166PXXU9ZZIE is the firmware version that beta enrollees will see in the changelog. Of course, some letters will change in the code, which usually depends on what region the update is being pushed to. The market where it showed up has the global Galaxy A16 model.
The update will end up in South Korea eventually and may even reach the US and the UK in the next few weeks. Galaxy A16 isn’t really a flagship phone, so it doesn’t have the new AI features and Now Brief customizations. It did get Quick Panel customizations and new accessibility features with One UI 9.
You won’t be getting any DeX enhancements either because the A16 doesn’t support that feature. Samsung Notes, however, did take advantage of the new update and push some new features in the app. Keep watching the news for more updates.
