Oppo A93 5G Is The Next Snapdragon 480 Phone; Specs, Pricing, and Product Images

In our Vivo Y31s report yesterday, WhatMobile suggested that a new wave of 5G-powered budget phones is on the horizon, thanks to the recent release of Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 480 chipset. The next smartphone in line, powered by this microchip, is the Oppo A93 5G. Its specifications, pricing, and product images were leaked before its upcoming launch.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 480 should bring the average 5G smartphone price down to Rs. 20,000-Rs. 40,000 ($125-$250) range. But the lower-end of that range is still in the offing. The Vivo Y31s starts roughly around Rs. 40,000 but the Oppo A93 5G is priced even higher.

Oppo A93 5G is a refresh of the Oppo A93 that came out in October last year. Instead of MediaTek silicon and a 4000 mAh battery, the Oppo A93 5G runs on the Snapdragon 480 and a 5000 mAh cell. The rest of the spec sheet is virtually identical. Although the A-series is Oppo’s entry-level lineup, the A93 5G (and the LTE version by extension) fall into the upper-mid-range section.

Unless Oppo trimmed down the screen specs on the Oppo A93, the new 5G version of the Oppo new model 2021 features a SuperAMOLED display, with a solitary hole-punch this time, instead of a wide one.

Also, the screen edges are now curved. The shell on the back is chamfered similarly. A camera platform with angled edges rises from a corner. It has a 48MP+2MP+2MP sensor array on it. The selfie camera uses an 8MP sensor.

Inside the A93 5G, the hardware runs on the Android11-based ColorOS 11. The fast-charging port supports up to 18W. And a 3.5mm headphone jack is present. When it’s released in China on January 15, it’ll be available in Aurora, black, and silver colors. Oppo A93 5G will start from 2,199 Yuan (~ Rs. 54,000.)
