Oppo’s Snapdragon-480 phone, the A93 5G, just went official in China. After the Vivo Y31s, it’s the second phone to launch with Qualcomm’s budget 5G chip. OPPO A93's 4G variant is already available in the Pakistani market.

The SD480 chip inside the Oppo A93 5G is powered by a 5000 mAh battery and 18W fast charging. According to Qualcomm, the new system-on-chip offers best-in-class performance, at least 2x faster than its previous generation.

The memory combination is 8GB+256GB (expandable with a microSD card). ColorOS11, based on Android11, runs on A93 5G.

Oppo A93 5G's finish shifts colors depending on the angle. You can pick from Aurora, silver, and black color options. The rear camera array is encased in a four-sided platform. And Oppo has rounded the frame and curved its edges. The side-facing power button doubles as the fingerprint sensor. A 3.5mm headphone jack is available, like most of the other Oppo phones.

Oppo A93 5G features a 48MP primary sensor, joined by a 2MP mono sensor and 2MP macro lens. The selfie camera is 8MP, housed in a hole-punch. We’re looking at a 6.5” IPS LCD screen that peaks at 1080P resolution and a fluid 90Hz refresh rate. Note that the screen is flat, unlike the curved edged Oppo A93 seen in the previously leaked images.

The A93 5G falls into the mid-range segment. Pre-orders in China begin on January 16, and it’ll arrive in stores there on January 20. No word on its global release yet. The phone starts at 1,999 Yuan (~ Rs. 49,500).
