The ever-growing A-series from Oppo introduced a new entry today. Oppo A33 has entry-level internals bundled in a polished-but-generic design. The handset got unveiled recently and will go on sale in Indonesia first, from the very next month, and should launch in other neighboring markets (including Pakistan) soon.
We start with yet another recycled build, featuring a glassy back, chamfered edges, and round corners. The rear cameras on Oppo A33 2020 sit on a four-sided plate painted jet black and presenting a contrast against its ‘Moonlight Black’ or ‘Mint Cream’ paint jobs.
You get a 6.5” LCD display that produces an HD+ resolution at a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The A33 is surrounded in light bezels on three sides and a big chin. To house the front-facing camera, Oppo has poked a hole in the corner of the screen.
Qualcomm’s latest entry in the Snapdragon 400 series, the Snapdragon 460, is at the heart of the A33 — much like the Oppo A53, except it’s only available in a lower-end 3GB + 32GB (user-expandable up to 256GB) configuration. The battery capacity reaches 5,000 mAh and fast charges over 18W. Oppo’s latest Android10-based ColorOS 7.2 provides the software experience.
The camera setup on the Oppo A33 is your average optics array for a budget smartphone: a 13MP main camera rounded off by a pair of 2MP depth and macro sensors. Selfies are taken with an 8MP f/2.0 camera.
Aside from the higher-than-average screen refresh rate, the Oppo A33 has dual stereo speakers, powered by DIRAC — another feature rare in this price bracket. The phone is secured with a rear-facing capacitive fingerprint scanner. WhatMobile expects it to start from Rs. 25,999.
