Nothing Phone (3) will offer 7 Years of Updates, Powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

The company has already announced a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 at the heart of the Nothing Phone (3). It’s not the flagship SoC we were hoping for with this device, but it’s still among the best available chips in the world. Akis Evangelidis, Nothing’s co-founder, explained the reason why the company chose this chip over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

From what he revealed on X, this new device has better GPU performance by almost 88%. That’s almost double the graphics processing speed compared to the Nothing Phone (2). There’s also a 33% improvement in CPU power, and the NPU gets up to a 125% performance boost for AI tasks.

Akis Evangelidis replied to one of the comments on his post, asking why the company didn’t go with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. To which he replied that the 8 Gen 3 comes with a slower GPU and NPU, not to forget weak connectivity and ISP.

Another reason why he believes the 8s Gen 4 was a better choice is because of software support. The new chip offers a whopping five years of OS and 7 years of security updates by default, while the older 8 Gen 3 taps out at 4 years of OS and 4 years of patch support.

Nothing Phone (3) almost certainly has the 7 years of OS support that Akis talks about in his latest tweet. The Phone (2) could only promise three major OS updates, which was standard at the time. But the Nothing Phone latest model plans to add an extra two years of OS updates.

Not only did the Nothing phone (3) reveal its SoC in the past few days, but it also confirmed the launch date. This newcomer will hit the stage on July 1st, as per the offical announcement. The teasers are slowly picking up the pace, and before time, the company will unveil everything there is to know about this device.

As far as the pricing is concerned, Nothing CEO dropped a hint in one of his videos, saying that the Phone (3) might cost around 800 pounds. That’s a price customers usually pay for a flagship device. Nothing might be trying to position this newcomer as a high-end phone. We’ll know more about the handset’s price and availability once it debuts. Make sure to stick around and stay tuned for further updates.
