Nokia X20 Secures an FCC Certification; the New 5G Phone Launches Early Next Month

Nokia X20, from Nokia’s rumored series of new budget phones, continues cropping up in certifications and benchmarks. Most recently, the American Federal Communications Commission, or the FCC, signed off on the device. The X20, alongside others, is slated to debut at HMD’s upcoming April 8 event.

HMD Global is still keeping the Nokia new models for 2021 under wraps but, through a string of leaks, we’ve learned some specifications of the Nokia X20. You can find the documents listed under its model number “TA-1341.”

For starters, the phone has the Snapdragon 480 at its heart — the latest and first 5G chip in Qualcomm’s 400 series. You get six gigs of memory, clean, near-stock Android 11 experience, and possibly 128GB of native storage. NokiaPowerUser further notes that Nokia X20 supports microSD expansion, a 3.5mm audio jack, and NFC.

HMD might also revive its partnership with the optics manufacturer Zeiss. As seen in a product schematic attached with the FCC documents, the Nokia X20 has a donut-shaped camera island, presumably containing a 48MP quad-camera array. The back is clean otherwise, suggesting that the fingerprint scanner is merged with the power button.

Reports also specify the X20 display and design. We could be looking at a near 6.2” IPS LCD with a standard 720P resolution and a compact 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The build also includes a dedicated button for summoning the Google Assistant and comes in blue and bronze colorways. Its expected price is set at 349 euros (~ Rs. 63,900.) Other than the X20 5G, HMD is planning to unveil Nokia X10 and Nokia G10 too.
