Nokia 8.3 5G to Go on Sale Soon, a Snapdragon 765g-powered 5G Smartphone with Quad Cameras

The long-awaited Nokia 8.3 sub-flagship was supposed to hit stores following the MWC 2020, but after organizers pulled the plug on the event, Nokia pushed back the launch indefinitely. Speculation suggested that the phone could go on sale around July, which seems to have panned out. Nokia 8.3 is now listed on Nokia’s Amazon page in Germany, and other markets should follow soon.

If our readers would recall the announcement, Nokia 8.3 5G is the company’s first 5G-enabled handset. It has a sleek, modern-looking build: the edges are chamfered, and the curved rear-shell and frame have a sheen.

Its side-mounted thumbprint reader doubles as the power button, and you can summon the Google Assistant on 8.3 by Nokia with the dedicated button mounted on the chassis.

The 8.3 5G design is inspired by the northern lights that comes in the ‘Polar Light’ color. A round camera housing a quad-camera array juts out this rear-facing panel. The PureView quad-camera engineered by Zeiss optics, uses a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a pair of 2MP depth and macro sensors. It’s crafted with a focus on low-light videos while the OZO audio feature allows for accurate, 360-degree, immersive sound.

The 8.3 screen is punched in the corner, surrounded by light-weight bezels all around. It stretches 6.81” corner-to-corner while delivering an FHD+ resolution and a tall 20:9 aspect ratio. A 24MP selfie camera is embedded inside the punch-hole.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G handles processing behind the scenes, rounded off by 6GB/8GB of memory and 64GB/128GB storage (expandable with a microSD card). The Nokia 8.3 runs on a 4,500 mAh battery, supported by 18W fast charging.

Nokia ships it with the stock Android 10, and promises up to 2 years of Android upgrades and up to 3 years of security patches. The official sources haven’t shared the pricing details yet, but the Nokia 8.3 5G is expected to start around 105,000 to 115,000 PKR.
