Nokia 5.4 is Coming in December With More Storage and a Faster Processor, Report Claims

While their flagships keep suffering from unexpected delays, HMD Global, the company behind the revival of the Nokia brand, is doubling down on budget models. The erratic launch timelines continue as the company gears up to introduce Nokia 5.4 — which comes only months after the Nokia 5.3. NokiaPowerUser leaked a few specs for Nokia 5.4.

HMD is hopping on the ongoing industry trend of manufacturers veering off from their yearly launch schedules. Nokia 5.4 is coming before 2020 ends, alongside the Nokia 7.3 5G. But the flagship Nokia 9.3 PureView has been postponed to 2021.

Based on the report, Nokia 5.4 has a hole-punch cutout to replace the less intrusive notch that its predecessor had. The screen size has also shrunken ever-so-slightly from 6.55” to 6.4”.

The processor inside the phone is anyone’s guess right now. But NokiaPowerUser speculates that the previous-gen Snapdragon 665 chipset is getting upgraded. But more to the point, HMD Global should finally introduce fast-charging tech in their Nokia phones i.e Nokia 5 & 6 lineup. Virtually every mid-range model on the market and even most budget phones support some sort of fast charging.

The max storage capacity has been doubled to 128GB. Nokia 5.4 will be available in blue and purple colors and 128GB/64GB options, paired off with 4GB of memory.

The upcoming Nokia 5.4 may also feature a revised camera system, albeit it’ll still be a quad-camera. To recount, the Nokia 5.3 had a 13MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, two 2MP lenses, and an 8MP selfie camera.
