Honor has revealed a new phone that packs an abnormally large battery despite its average thickness. The Chinese brand has taken Silicon-carbon batteries to a whole new level with an 8300mAh cell mounted inside the thin “Honor X70.” Here are some details you need to know about this newcomer.
Honor is always pushing the envelope, and this time, the company has chosen the battery category to do something that’s never been attempted before. This is a phone with an 8300mAh cell, and according to an official banner, it will maintain health for 6 years, give you 18 hours of continuous screen time, and 27 hours of video playback.
The charging situation is a bit odd, as the Honor X70, by default, comes with an 80W wired charging support for its base variants. But as soon as you jump to a 12/512GB memory trim, the device actually ships with 80W wireless charging as well. By the way, the X70 also has 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB options.
It’s a middle league device at heart. You will find a 50MP Main OIS camera on the back with PDAF focus. And, there’s an 8MP selfie camera on the front, which means it relies heavily on the Honor’s latest flagship phone image optimization engine. The Honor X70 boots to an Android 15 system, coated with a Magic OS 9.0 skin.
On the front, we have a 6.79” display on a 1.5k resolution panel. It’s AMOLED, of course, with a usual 120Hz refresh rate. What’s surprising to us is the phone’s 6000nits brightness, which will be utilized when you are watching HDR content. A 3840Hz PWM dimming is also a feature you’ll appreciate if you have sensitive eyes.
The X70 has passed some of the roughest durability tests, Honor says. It has an IP69 rating to boot. Apparently, it remains functional even when sprayed with 85-degree boiling salt water for 4 hours continuously. Also, the company claims it can survive drops from 2.5 meters onto a concrete surface.
Honor X70 is on pre-order in China right now, and the shipment is supposed to begin on July 18th. Luckily, the company has already given away its prices, so we don’t have to wait. The X70 (8/128GB) starts at CNY 1,399 (~PKR 55,000), and the fully specced variant (12/512GB) with wireless 80W charging costs CNY 1,999 (~PKR 80,000).
