Honor has been churning out new Honor Play releases like clockwork, Honor Play 20, and Honor Play 5T being the most recent ones. The rapid growth of the Play family continues since the company has yet another phone lined up for launch soon, the Honor Play 5. Its product image and specifications were leaked before the upcoming debut in China.

From the leaked Honor Play 5 promotional mockup, courtesy of GSMArena, we know that this budget device has a generic but clean design. The metal frame has flat edges and a chrome finish.

On the back, we find a sunburst gradient painted on a flat shell. The camera housing protrudes out this plate, containing four lenses and an LED flash. Flip the Play 5 over to meet a notched display encased in slim bezels. The overall build is similarly lightweight: 7.6mm and 179g.

The renowned phone leaker, Digital Chat Station, reports the alleged specifications as well. Honor Play 20 has the Dimensity 800U chip at its heart, hooked up to a 3800 mAh battery. Plus, you get breakneck 66W fast charging support to round off the hardware setup.

For visuals, Honor Play 5 uses a 6.5" AMOLED screen that peaks at a full HD resolution. The front camera details are still a mystery, but the rear camera is a predictable array, featuring a 64MP wide camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and two 2 MP portrait and macro sensors.

Other reports put its expected launch timeline around early May. The Honor Play 5 might cost upwards of 1,299 Yuan (~ Rs. 30,000), given the price of the much cheaper Honor Play 5T.
