Samsung's Galaxy M-series releases have quieted down in the past few months. But as the Korean tech giant gears up to introduce the next generation of affordable Galaxy A phones, the similarly budget-friendly M-series will pick up pace too. Samsung Galaxy M23 5G, another cheap 5G phone, was featured in a public listing and product mockups.

Google recently signed off on the Samsung Galaxy M23 5G — the certification is available on the Google Play Console database. It specifies the model number ‘SM-M236B’ for the M23 5G, detailing its core system features. And a report from the popular publication MySmartPrice just uncovered more specs and press images of the phone.

Samsung has mildly refreshed the typical layout and design of their budget Galaxy phones here. The camera mound has softer edges and it blends perfectly into the frosted matte finish on the casing. The Galaxy M23 5G comes in emerald green, salmon pink, and pale blue shades.

Turn Samsung's new M-series model over to find a 6.6” screen with a notch bleeding from the top. It’s reportedly a sharp and smooth 1080P 120Hz display but uses the obsolete TFT type LCD. The old TFT standard lacks the consistent viewing angles and vivid contrast of modern LCD panels.

The cameras get a big bump in performance over the last generation. The Galaxy M23 5G rocks a 50MP f/1.8 wide-angle shooter, integrated with optical image stabilization (OIS). True stabilization is rare in budget phones. One 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro lens round off the triple-lens setup.

The advanced camera system isn’t the only feature that stands out. Samsung Galaxy M23 5G has the high-performance mid-range Snapdragon 750G at its heart. It’s paired with 4GB of memory and 128GB of expandable internal storage. A 3.5mm audio jack (a dying breed, especially in Samsung’s catalog), NFC support, and the latest Android 12 x OneUI complete the package. The rumor mill puts its starting price anywhere between Rs. 45,000 to 49,000 PKR.
